Marl will never generate images, video or music.
Quavern is making a permanent commitment: its assistant Marl will produce no images, no video and no music. Out of respect for the artists whose work is used to train these models, and to keep AI slop out of Marl.
What Marl will never do
- Generate an image, an illustration or a photo.
- Generate a video or an animation.
- Generate music.
This commitment holds on every plan and for every model Marl uses. Marl also does not write prompts for other image, video or music generators.
Why
Image, video and music generators are trained on artists’ work, mostly without their consent and without payment. Producing from that work is appropriating it: we consider it a form of theft.
These tools also flood the web with mass-produced content that has no author and no intent: AI slop. Quavern opposes it, and Marl will not add to it.
What Marl remains
An assistant for text and code: writing, explaining, analysing, programming. Through the API and Marl Code, Marl can read an image you give it, such as a screenshot, in order to explain it. It will never make one.
Artists are not training data.
